Just after I met Cody, and began to learn about the teen who would have the most profound impact on my life, I began wondering how I could communicate effectively with a person almost 40 years my junior. So I created Daniel, a fictitious character who both mirrored and influenced Cody's life and friends. It began as my way of entertaining Cody and getting him to think about various issues, including sexuality, as well as improving his self-esteem and confidence. Eventually, I'd written so many chapters that I decided to turn the stories into a web site. That was never the original idea, though. MrB Stories grew from there, and Cody was always Daniel's #1 fan.

hiya B

well, i remember when you first signed my site guestbook and we got writin to each other and i was a pretty messed up teen. my friend matt, on the net, was dyin of leukemia and i was feelin pretty down cos things werent goin so well cos i think it was about the time that i was startin to realise that i liked guys more than girls. my relationship with my girlfriend was up the creek.

you then started to write the daniel stories based on the emails that i was sendin you. there was a difference tho - in the way that daniel was handlin the situation. he was faced with the same hassles as me - suddenly realisin that he preferred guys. but he developed this 'in your face' type attitude and he carried on bein a normal teen.

far from bein porn stories - the daniel stories have helped a whole bunch of guys like me see themselves as bein normal in a world that is far from it. yeah were still in closets and hidin - but within ourselves we arent so screwed up - because of the things we learn from the way daniel handles himself. were not all gonna go and wank on street corners - i did tho :) but its just the confidence that we get from daniel to stop beatin ourselves over the head for bein different to the accepted norms of law as laid down by non-tolerant people of the world. the fact is that there are not just hundreds of people like us out there - just look at the net - there are millions of teens alone who are battlin to come to terms with their own sexuality - and daniel helped a lotta them already. i dont think hes gonna turn str8 guys into gays but i think he helps a lotta the str8 guys to see a different point of view as well.

i also think its important for everyone to have a hero - daniel is a hero to us.

i also know from a lotta emails that daniel has prevented a lotta guys from offin themselves - now if that isnt a positive side to the daniel diary then nothin is.

Captain

Now you know why I have so much respect for the Captain (Cody) and love him dearly. When I began writing the Daniel stories, it was essentially to titilate and entertain. Subconcsiously, though, there was another motive which dawned on me only recently. I know for a fact that three young lives have been saved by Daniel's example, and how he deals with his sexuality. Well, three lives not counting mine -- and perhaps many others of whom I may be unaware. Daniel has also helped people to come out of their shells and to feel good about themselves, and to have the confidence to make new friends. Sure, I use sex to attract readers, but those readers soon become aware of the powerful, underlying message -- don't hate yourself for being gay. If those stories had saved only one life, then mine would have been worthwhile. But they've saved three that I know of, and given many thousands of people a happy and rewarding time. From my point of view, it all boils down to one thing -- the pleasure is all in the giving. Believe me, if you focus on giving, the rewards will blow you away. MrB
